GERiT.org - information portal on German research institutions
GERiT is an information portal provided by the German Research Foundation (DFG) in partnership with the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). It provides a transparent overview of German research institutions in Germany and abroad. It is primarily designed to enable students and researchers from Germany and other countries to find German research institutions in the particular areas they are interested in. GERiT is therefore a useful tool for international research marketing, promoting Germany as a place to research.
An advantage of GERiT is that it allows users to search for institutes in a particular field with the aid of a very finely structured classification system. The classification system developed by the Federal Statistical Office (DESTATIS) identifies more than 650 different subject areas. GERiT presents information about German research institutions in both English and German. This includes information about the disciplines represented at a particular institution, contact details, location maps and links to each institute’s own website. For many universities GERiT also provides a link to the institution’s own careers portal. In partnership with the German Rectors’ Conference, GERiT is linked to the Higher Education Compass, giving access to information about doctoral programmes at each institution. If so, a link is provided to the university’s doctoral regulations.
Information about DFG-funded research projects listed in the DFG’s own information system GEPRIS can also be accessed through GERiT.
