ERA Fellowships – Green Hydrogen 2025

[Deadline: depending on degree] The DAAD scholarship program „ERA Fellowships – Green Hydrogen“ supports German and international Master and PhD students as well as for Postdocs in any topics related to Green Hydrogen. Funded are study, research, or internships in Germany and around the world.

The following information is intended for those wishing to study, research or undertake an internship in Germany:

Study fellowships and internships for international Master students

WHAT CAN BE FUNDED?:
The programme provides funding for
• a Master’s degree programme (programmes with 90 ECTS/3 semesters) completed at a state or state-recognised university in Germany or
• up to one year of study in Germany as part of a Master’s degree programme. The general condition is that the academic credits you gain in Germany are recognised by your home university. Moreover, standard period of study at your home university should not be exceeded as a result of the study year in Germany or
• a Master’s thesis as part of an international Master’s degree programme completed at a state or state-recognised university, a research institute or a company in Germany or
• a self-organized internship in a company or at a non-university institution in the field of GH2 in Germany.

APPLICATION DEADLINE:
Applications can be submitted anytime from August 15 until November 5, 2024. The selection meeting will be held in January 2025.The fellowship can be commenced earliest (at the beginning of each month) from March 1, 2025. If you plan on starting your fellowship later than August 1, 2025, please apply during our next call for applications (in the spring of 2025). Funding for the fellowship programme is available until the end of 2026.

Research fellowships and internships for international PhD students

WHAT CAN BE FUNDED?:
The programme provides funding for
• a research project or continuing academic training at a state or staterecognised institution of higher education in Germany or a non-university research institute, which is being carried out in agreement with a supervisor in Germany or
• a self-organized internship in a German company or a non-university institution in the field of GH2.

APPLICATION DEADLINE:
Applications can be submitted anytime. The fellowship can be commenced at the beginning of each month. Please note that applications have to be submitted at least 4 months before the planned starting date. Funding for the fellowship programme is available until the end of 2026. Please keep this in mind if you want to apply for a fellowship for more than 12 months. The maximum funding period is 24 months.

Research fellowships for international PostDocs

WHAT CAN BE FUNDED?:
The programme provides funding for a research project or continuing academic training at a state or state-recognised institution of higher education in Germany or a non-university research institute, which is being carried out in agreement with a supervisor in Germany. The fellowship grants access to international working groups and allows for active participation and involvement in a group that can continue after the fellowship ends.

APPLICATION DEADLINE:
Applications can be submitted anytime. The fellowship can be commenced at the beginning of each month. Please note that applications have to be submitted at least 4 months before the planned starting date. Funding for the fellowship programme is available until the end of 2026. Please keep this in mind if you want to apply for a fellowship for more than 12 months. The maximum funding period is 24 months.
